Botanical Research in Tropical Asia 7-11/12/2015

This congress follows the two last symposia on the “Flore du Cambodge, du Laos et du Vietnam”, held in Phnom Penh (2008) and in Hanoi (2010), and widens its horizons to include all of Tropical Asia.

The first Symposium was co-organized from 8th to 14th December 2008, by the Royal University of Phnom Penh (RUPP) and the Muséum national d'histoire naturelle, Paris (MNHN). There were 350 participants from 20 countries with 57 oral presentations and 60 posters on the topics of taxonomy, ethnobotany, ecology, medicinal plants and phytochemistry. Workshops of botanical illustration (line drawings) were held by Alain Jouy (MNHN); forty participants took part, happy and honoured to get a final degree diploma.

This first symposium ended with a message of perseverance, recorded by Professor Jules E. Vidal, to the entire community of researchers and scientists in the region.

The second Symposium was held in Hanoi from 6th to 11th December 2010, co-organized by the Muséum national d’histoire naturelle, the Institute of Ecology and Biological Resources (IEBR), and the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST). This Symposium was attended by 200 participants from more than 10 countries in the world especially from Asia, with 66 oral presentations and 56 posters on the same topics. The workshops of botanical illustration were held by Agathe Haevermans (MNHN), who added watercolour to the line drawings.

The final recommendation committed participants to sharing knowledge for the benefit of the biodiversity of this region.

Since these Symposia, collaboration between a great number of researchers has led to numerous publications, so the third Symposium is fervently awaited for sharing new knowledge, pointing the tools for better conservation and sustainable plant biodiversity in the region, and promoting the rational use of plant resources.

International Symposium on Conservation and Utilization of Forest Resources for Sustainable Livelihoods: Malaysia 26-29/10/2015

FAO and Forest Departments of various countries have since long been involved in providing livelihood opportunities to forest dwellers and rural households through some direct intervention and also through research and development initiatives. But it is strongly felt that there are many grey areas where still a lot is needed to be done. Further, many good things are happening around the globe in the field of Forests resources particularly NWFP management related issues. There are plenty of success stories regarding sustainable livelihood through Forest resource utilization. V Sivaram Research Foundation and Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) will be organizing the Symposium which provides platform and opportunity for researchers, policy makers, managers, professionals from different private sectors in Asia and other regions of the world to exchange and share methodologies, approaches, information on products, market and lessons learnt from Forest resource conservation and development initiatives.

Forests are essential for human survival and well being. They harbour two thirds of all terrestrial animal and plant species. They provide us with food, oxygen, shelter, recreation, and spiritual sustenance, and they are the source for over 5,000 commercially traded products, ranging from pharmaceuticals to timber and clothing. The biodiversity of forests the variety of genes, species, and forest ecosystems underpins these goods and services, and is the basis for long term forest health and stability. Promoting strategies and ways to use forest biodiversity in a sustainable way, and with clear social and economic benefits for the poor, is the purpose of scheduled meeting.

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION

All abstracts should be written in English and submitted on or before July 30, 2015through on-line abstract system. The abstract must be in the Microsoft Word format (paper size: A4). The title of the paper should be 16 pt Times New Roman and the Name and Address must be cantered with 14 pt Times New Roman. The main text should be single-spaced, in 12 pt Times New Roman with Key words at the end. The number of words in the abstract should be maximum 400.

All submissions will be reviewed in terms of quality, impact and relevance to the Conference by subject experts. The notification will be directed to the corresponding author by August 15, 2015.

5th International Forum on Green Technology and Management

About IFGTM 2015

International Forum on Green Technology and Management (IFGTM) is an annual event initiated by Consortium for Green Technology Management and Research. The consortium consists of eleven members: School of Environmental Science and Technology, Ha Noi University of Science and Technology (INEST-HUST);
Faculty of Environment and Natural Resources, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (FE-HCMUT); Faculty of Environment, Da Nang University of Technology (FE-DUT); Institute for Environmental Science and Engineering, National University of Civil Engineering (IESE-NUCE);
Institute of Environmental Technology, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (IET-VAST); College of Environment and Natural Resources, Can Tho University (CENRes-CTU); Department of Environmental Science, Hue University of Sciences (DES-HUSC); Institute of Resources and Environment, Hue University (IREN-HU); Department of Environmental Resources and Management, Chia-Nan University of Pharmacy and Science (ERM-CNU); Department of Environment and Resources, University of Thu Dau Mot (DER-UTDM) and Faculty of Biotechnology and Environmental Engineering, Ho Chi Minh City University of Food Industry (FBEE-HUFI). The IFGTM provide a platform for researchers and managers to share knowledge, experience and research results in various aspects of environment, with a focus on green technology and management. There have been so far four IFGTMs occurred: in Da Nang (2011), in Ho Chi Minh City (2012), in Ha Noi (2013) and in Can Tho (2014).

The 5th International Forum on Green Technology and Management (IFGTM 2015) is hosted by Hue University of Sciences and will be held in Hue City, from 28 to 30th July, 2015.

We are pleased to invite you to participate in the 5th International Forum on Green Technology and Management (IFGTM 2015) which will be held in Hue city on July 28th to 30th 2015.

Abstract and full paper submission

An abstract (no more than 200 words) is required for screening by Scientific Committee. The abstract must be in English and should include title, names and affiliations of all authors, contact email of corresponding author; and key words.

Authors whose abstracts are accepted should submit manuscripts of maximum 8 pages for a reviewing process. Good papers will be published in a Special Issue of Journal of Science and Technology of Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology. Manuscripts must follow the journal guidelines which can be downloaded from the conference website.

Selected authors will be invited for oral presentations at the conference. The others will be invited for poster presentations.

Environmental pollution controlWith the theme “Green Environment for Sustainable Development”, IFGTM 2015 will cover a broad range of the following topics related to environmental engineering and management:

Invitation Letter

The Conference Organizing Committee will be pleased to send an invitation letter to any participant upon his/her request. It must be understood that these letters are only intended to help participants to obtain a visa or to raise travel funds and do not commit the conference organizers to any financial nor insurance obligations. To obtain the invitation letter, the participant should register to attend the conference in advance.

Publication fee and conference fee

Publication fee is applied for the authors whose abstracts are accepted for reviewing process. The fee is 35 USD or 750,000 VND per manuscript. This fee is used for publishing process, including payments for reviewers, editors and printing. The author should pay this fee at the same time of manuscript submission.

The conference fee, which will be collected at the registration desk, is 25 USD or 500,000 VND for each regular participant and 12.5 USD or 250,000 VND for each graduate student. The fee covers materials (abstract book, journal, etc.) at the conference and all activities during conference such as full attendance of sessions, cultural tour, technical tour, lunches, coffee-breaks, etc.
